Sue Mason – 6 Week Body Makeover Program
54 years old and I feel on top of the world!
Sue lost 6.6kg (14.5lb) in just 6 weeks!
As a teenager and in my early twenties I never had to worry about my weight – until I had children. Having 3 children under the age of 5 years really took a toll on my body, and I was never able to get my body back to my pre-baby shape. I never seemed to have any time for me let alone diet and exercise and meeting the demands of 3 young children I developed some bad eating habits.
Years passed by quickly, and during that time I experienced a marriage break down, an international move from the UK to Australia, and then the death of my second husband six weeks after moving in to our new home in Australia. I was however, lucky enough to meet a wonderful man to whom I have been married to for 8 years. All of this upheaval brought with it comfort eating – and the weight just piled on.
The last diet I was on was so restrictive that by the end of the day I was ready to chew someone’s leg off!
Two years ago I did make an attempt to lose weight, but the diet I was on was so restrictive that by the end of the day I was ready to chew someone’s leg off! I then became sick and the diet fell by the wayside and again, the weight piled back on.
For the past year I had been feeling tired and lethargic and I noticed that every morning I got out of bed the backs of my ankles ached until I had been moving around for a while. I was also getting concerned that being overweight increased my chance of heart attack, diabetes, cancer etc – the list goes on and on. I did not want to become another statistic.
I was 54 years old and my weight was 81.1kgs at the end of July. I made the decision that I HAD to do something about my weight – not next week or next year but now! So I set myself a goal of being below 65kgs by Christmas – that gave me 20 weeks to tackle the issue!
I started dieting and exercising on the 30th July and within 3 weeks I was already pushing myself outside of my comfort zone! I was reading every article and every fitness magazine and book I could get my hands on. I started reading about how important strength training was for woman as they mature and started to incorporate that in with my workout repertoire, along with interval training. I was also going for a brisk walk each evening and a 7km walk on Friday afternoons. The weight was dropping like no tomorrow and within a few weeks my clothes were feeling looser.
I had never been very sporty during my younger years and here I was at 54, really enjoying my workouts! By now I was down to 69.4kgs and I decided it was time to take it up a notch; I was looking for a new challenge!
I was subscribed to various fitness websites and Ideal Bodies Online was one of them. I had received a newsletter from Sue which prompted me to visit the website and investigate further. I particularly liked the idea of the Body Makeover Program – I knew having a personalized program with a Success Coach to hold me accountable week by week would really help keep me motivated and on track. I decided to enrol in the shorter 6 week program as I did not want to find I had bitten of more than I could chew.

The program was challenging and some of the exercises initially I found hard to do, but my coach Hilary was very supportive. I also became quite good at improvisation. At the beginning I could not do a single push up on my knees so I googled some other options and starting using the wall to do a modified push up and during the course of the day I would do several sets until I could do 20. Then I started doing incline push ups against the kitchen bench top, then the table, and finally I was down on the floor within 10 days of not being able to do a single push up! The program was a bit of a revelation for me, when I realized how much I could achieve when I put my mind to it!
By this stage I was extremely motivated and focused, nothing was going to stand in the way of my daily routine. I certainly had never sweated as much and it was a great feeling! Everyone around me was noticing the change, not just in weight loss but also how happy I was. I was starting to feel good about myself which I had not experienced in a very long time. I looked in the mirror and could see the fat on my butt, belly and thighs diminishing. I did not need anything else to keep me motivated – THAT was my motivation. Each week I sent in my report to Hilary who was forever praising me on how well I had done. I had the end goal in my vision and I was not going to let it out of my sight, not for one moment!
By the end of week 4 I was already below my target of 65kgs but I decided I wanted to keep going at least until the end of the program so I could see how much I could achieve. At the end of the 6 weeks I was down to 62.8kgs I had lost a staggering 6.6kgs during the 6 weeks dropping from 69.4kgs to 62.8kgs! Not only had I lost a significant amount of weight but I had also lost 6.5cms from my bust, 9.5cms from my waist and 7cms from my hips, I could not believe I had done all that in six weeks!
I decided that as the Body Makeover Program had helped me so much that I would move on to the 40 Day MAX Fat Burn program as I have now decided to shred a few more kilos and to continue to tone up. I know that with the help of Sue and her team that I will reach my goal by Christmas.
I now have the tools and the knowledge to keep me on track for the rest of my life!
My advice to anyone thinking about signing up for one of Sue’s programs – don’t think, just do it! You won’t be sorry!
I now know that being in denial about your weight does not bring results – you have to take control of your life, rather than letting your life control you.
My objectives for the future are:
- To continue to eat clean
- To watch portion size
- Exercise regularly
- To check my weight each week.
I know if I do all of these I will never again find myself in the situation where I look in the mirror and hate what I see, and hate what I have become. I feel confident that I can now lead a long and healthy life.

Other benefits? I have now got a brand new wardrobe of clothes that fit and flatter! I no longer have to pick clothes that cover the lumps. I go out of the house and can hold my head high as to what I have achieved. I feel happy and extremely proud of myself. My whole outlook has changed since doing this program. I can honestly say enrolling on the Body Makeover Program was one of the best decisions of my life. I feel younger, fitter, healthier and I walk with a spring in my step. My husband says he is now married to a completely different woman and has given me the title of ‘the fox’!
How you feel about yourself is so important as it affects how you live your life. We only get one crack at life, and I for one want to be the best I can be. I also want to be a good example and a role model for my kids as to what you can achieve when you put your heart and soul in to it!
I am looking forward to Christmas as I have a brand new dress to wear – and if I can say so myself, it looks amazing! Thanks Sue and Hilary for giving me the confidence to wear something like this – something which I have not worn since my early 20′s! You too can achieve all of this and more – once you are confident in your own skin, the world is your oyster and it’s time to go out and live it to the max!
