I think we can all relate Tanya. Thanks for sharing. Next month, try adding some good fats to your diet the week before AF is due and see how that helps. Don't be aftraid to add some fat, it helps curb the cravings associated with that time of month.

This article came perfectly in time (or maybe just a day too late - depends how you look at it!!). I went on a binge last night, much to my disappointment. I didn't see it coming at all. I don't buy junk food to keep in my house but as I have a housemate who does, I still have access if my inner binge monster wants to go on a rampage. Worse again is that I have to admit to someone else when this happens because I, for example, just ate my housemate's entire box of 4 Drumstick ice creams....so I'll drop buy the shop later and buy your replacement ones (insert image of me hanging my head in shame - yes, I ate your food). This doesn't happen often, lets say once a month - thanks Aunty Flo, but when it does I have always been one to absolutely kick myself in disappointment. The problem with this is that spending the days to follow feeling absolutely guilty and angry with myself only tends to result in making it even harder for me to make good choices and actually feel good about them. I could go straight back into eating well but there's a cloud hanging over that means that I don't feel how good eating well really makes me feel. So, I had this Drumstick Icrecream binge last night but today I've gone straight back in to healthy eating, no guilt, just acceptance that I did what I did. I feel great. Okay, I don't feel entirely great because my body isn't used to receiving such a massive dose of nutrient void food, let alone that much sugar!! The first thing I noticed when I got up was just how thirsty I was. I've been downing water all day (as is my norm)and it feels good. Not just good but better than drinking water normally makes me feel. So, before I go on to write a novel about my food binge and how much I agree with everything you've written in this article, I'll just end this with saying that all of what you have said makes sense. It will be good to have a structured, tried and true strategy for any future post-binge-blues I may experience. There's every chance that there will be another one next month. The funny part is that I never see it coming, it's like a switch goes off and -BAM- !!! Binge-monster goes on a gorgefest. As I said, it's good to have an exit strategy!!

Blue Diamond is an Aussie brand of almond milk. It is unsweetened. I buy it where the long life milks are in the supermarket. Not all supermarkets have it. I get mine from my large Foodland supermarket (I haven't seen it in Coles or Woolies)

Hello Sue
What an inspirational article. I know that I feel most committed when I have reserves (ie more than what I need, so that I can give more of myself and to others). I'm always in a good place when I have reserves because I feel focussed on what I need and want without worry or guilt. I feel less 'needy', more confident and enjoy the freedom of choice because it enhances my quality of life.
This may sound rambling, but it makes sense in some way. Thanks for keeping us on track Sue. Lisa

Absolutely agree. Just do it! is my motto - motivation comes and goes like any emotion. Can't rely on it
