So, I have avoided making it public because as you might understand, I feel a bit paranoid and scared about it because of my previous miscarriage. I thought I would at least wait until my first scan, of which I had today. I’ve been so excited to just make the scan, to see what is going on inside! My baby has a heartbeat! So that’s a good sign. I’m at 8 weeks. It just looks like a little smudge on the ultrasound.
My weight is staying stable, yet I’m eating like a horse. Lots of carbs – fruit, fruit and veg juice, wraps, sandwiches, rice cakes, pasta, you name it.
I ate a pie the other night for dinner! Had this thing for pastry. Chile con carne pie with cheese – was pretty good too. I NEVER drink juice, but I have had this thing for fruit juice as water doesn’t seem to quench my thirst. When I went out for lunch with my mum and sis the other day I had a carrot, apple and ginger juice. Yummo. I think the ginger helped ease my nausea – so now I have a thing for that too.
I’ve been sick – not physically, but just feeling nauseas 90% of the time, often with a constant headache, and unbelievable exhaustion. I yawn all day. By 5pm I’m absolutely stuffed and can’t do anymore than sit on the couch. Insomnia is pretty bad – waking at 3-4am most days again, though I did have a good 2 weeks where I slept well and thought that was over. So the sleep deprivation hasn’t helped me in being able to keep active because I just feel wrecked.
I eat often as it eases the nausea. Some days even though I eat regularly I get so hungry very quickly. It must be in times of a growth spurt or something, because other days this doesn’t happen.
So all in all I feel like a washed out rag for the majority of the day and night. I hope it goes away as soon as possible!
I am off to Noosa on Thursday morning for a week – I am SO needing a week laying around the beach and pool. Have booked in for a 2.5 hour spa treatment at Ikatan Spa on the Friday – heaven!
Ok well I think I might go for a drive to try and find some of these ginger lollies that are supposed to help ease the queasiness.

Congratulations Sue! Hope all goes well for you.
Congrats Sue!

Congratulations Sue! I thought you must be pregnant with all those early mornings you’ve been having. I was the same. Sick as a dog most of the time too. I loved Ginger Beer (although not the healthiest choice). Here’s to a wonderful pregnancy and hope you get over the yucky bit really soon. xxxx

Cheers

That’s fantastic news! I’m so happy for you and it gives me a bit of hope too as I’m hoping to get pregnant this year as well. My little sister is pregnant and felt sick for the first 12 weeks but it eased up after that. Just rest up and look after yourself and let the little smudge grow.
I hope you have a great pregnancy and feel great soon.

Congratulations Sue
Wonderful, wonderful news. You have no idea how this will change you life-for the better of course. Becoming a Mum is the most amazing thing I have ever done.
I just love writing ‘mum’ on any forms that ask for occupation, because although I am many other things as well, it’s the most rewarding and important thing I do.
I only wish my husband would let us add more to our beautiful family of seven!!!!
Jo

Geez…just adding to all the well wishes and congratulations Sue!
The nausea…yeah…same here. I had that through the whole pregnancy. It’s a different and life-changing journey that’s for sure.
Just a little thing, though I don’t want to freak you out or anything. With your dayspa… it is recommended not to immerse yourself in something like a hot tub. It’s to do with the temperature of the water, which can be harmful to babies while developing. So I didn’t know whether you were aware of this.
Again…CONGRATULATIONS! I hope it’s continued smooth sailing here on for you.
Congratulations Sue, to you and Damien. I’m sure every day you’re experiencing the amazing, almost magical, things our bodies do to grow a new little life. It does feel a little like being possessed (I imagine)… but in a good way! The nausea is not the best … OK it’s pretty horrible … but at least you know your hormones are doing as they should. I used to love ginger … now all I can think of is morning sickness when I taste it! Small price to pay tho! Best wishes for a wonderful journey …
Congratulations Sue,
How exciting for you both, hoping all goes well for you. My son is 16 now but I can still remember how excited I was when I was prego’s. I was sick also mostly in the mornings but it went after the 12 week mark
All the best

Yay for you Sue! Morning sickness is just like having a whopping hangover isn’t it!? Don’t worry- you will feel like a new woman once you get past the 12 week mark (fingers crossed).
