Nothing better

Than that ‘trashed’ feeling after a good leg workout!  I decided to go back to a previous training program of mine that I really enjoyed – today’s workout was pretty simple but very bloody effective!

DB Bulgarian Split Squat 4 sets of 6 (10kg db’s)

DB Walking Lunge 4 sets of 7 (12.5kg db’s)

BB Lateral Squat 4 sets of 12 (40lb bar)

Lumberjack Squat into Calf Raise 2 setso of 14 (olympic bar + 10kg)

It doesn’t sound much but give it a go and you might think differently.  I added some shoulders after that.  I woke up today with a sore back :(   Half expected, due to my poor form on the rack pulls yesterday.  It’s at the sacroiliac joint again – this is the same area where I was injured for 6 months this time last year – yeah, it was after having a couple of weeks off over Christmas that I injured myself by coming back too hard too quickly.  Christmas always manages to upset the apple cart whether it be training or eating!

So, this is one reason I have decided to go back to this program as it was designed for me when I had my injury.  I also feel it was the best I’ve looked – I made noticeable back, shoulder and arm improvements on this program.  My core strength sky rocketed and my injuries disappeared.  I have a dynamic warm up involving hip mobility, glute activation exercises and stretching which no doubt helps a great deal.

I didn’t get enough sleep last night – almost decided not to train but I sucked it up and went.  Glad because I trained well.  I was awake at 3.30am and up at 4 :(   Crazy.  I did go back to bed around 8am and had a couple more hours.

I was very proud of myself yesterday, I had a bit of a spring clean of my walk in robe.  I was running out of room – and my wardrobe is huge.  So, I threw out a lot of old clothes that I have been keeping for goodness knows what reason.  I moved my winter jackets, and my skinny jeans to another wardrobe.  I won’t be needing either of those anytime soon, hehe :)

Well I best have a shower – I really need to write a program today, we have such a big week coming up!  I think we may hit about 20 programs at least.  I have managed to do quite a bit of tidying up on my inbox too – a little more to go however.

Actually Charlotte, I think you journal really well – I loved reading your journey to comp on the PN site.  Did you learn a lot about your body by doing this?

Rene, had to laugh, yes at times this comes to my mind too!

Kerry – great to hear that it’s working well for you!

  • Thanks Sue! Yes, I did learn lots and I find it good to go back and remind myself of those things. But, as you say, food journalling does become quite time consuming! Do you have much rest between sets doing that program? Hope your back is feeling better soon!

  • Hi Sue

I’m impressed with the spring clean of your walk in robe. I’m proud of you. It’s a shame we don’t live closer. Would have been fun to have done it together. We could have had a fun girlie afternoon together! :-)
