I am really loving my training at the moment. I’m PB’ing all over the place! It was one of my goals to sumo deadlift 100kg – as probably going on close to a year ago before I injured myself, I did a couple of reps for 95kg. Sumo’s (wide leg, close grip) are easier than regular deadlifts. So, as you know if you read my last few blogs, I recently rack pulled 100kg. Yesterday we were going to rack pull but the equipment needed wasn’t available so I suggested to my TP that we deadlift instead. I was a bit worried about my back though, and after a warm up set I nearly canned the idea as I felt a bit of strain in my lower back. He came up with an idea to lift the bar of the floor a bit more by stacking 3 20kg plates on top of each other, which would help avoid stressing my lower back too much. I started with a set of 10 at 60kg, then another set at 80kg. Then put another 10kg on and did about 6 I think. Then I got very excited and said I wanted to go heavier – added another 5kg, and did 4 at 95kg. I was told to rack the bar and then set myself each time, and this is actually harder as you aren’t using momentum. This is my best yet and I think even the 90kg may have been a PB too. So, since I’d done 95kg I thought I may as well have a crack at 100! I did and managed 2 reps. I was very happy with myself J A few hours later I noticed bruises on my knees from where the bar must have been hitting me on the way down! The workout really wiped me out – we went on to do lat pulls, close grip pulls and straight arm pulldowns, and then some biceps. I had to sleep not that long after I had my post workout shake. It was the 3rd day in a row that I had trained – something I shouldn’t really do. But, we are traveling today – as I write we are on the road, to visit Damien’s mum in hospital in
I got a few pics taken in the gym the other day – I am loving my shoulders in this one! I’m actually really happy with my arms and shoulders at the moment.
It’s now less than 3 weeks til we leave – I do believe this time in 3 weeks I will be somewhere over LA. Must go to Telstra and check out what I need to do to make sure I can log on to email while traveling.
I was really happy with the article in WHO magazine on Amanda – such a beautiful photo of her – she looks like a model and not one bit out of place in the pages of a glossy magazine!
