Thank you very much for your messages of support. We have had a very trying few days. we flew to Melbourne at short notice on Sunday, as Damien was not well. I’ve never seen him like this and I’ve got to say, it’s been very frightening at times. Officially he is experiencing “steroid psychosis” from the cortisone he has to take for his op. After being back and forth to the hospital on Monday morning and afternoon, he was finally admitted early. I was glad and so was he that he was close to doctors. I spent a while with him this morning and he was much better. He had another episode last night apparently but did sleep better and without those nasty nightmares he’s been having. He managed to kick me in the leg Sunday night, thanks to one of his dreams. In self defence I elbowed him back as hard as I could! Obviously a natural reaction, I was asleep. No bruise surprisingly! I am going back in about an hour and will stay with him until they kick me out. it is very difficult to concentrate on work or training. hence I have not trained, and I won’t, apart from Thursday when I see Sandy, providing everything goes according to plan. his operation is tomorrow, not sure what time yet and they still may have to go through above his eye, or his head. This would mean longer in hospital. So, as you can imagine things are a bit nerve wracking. We are hanging in there! His mum, dad and sister are here too so we are by his side as often as we can.
All the best Sue, my thoughts and prayers are with you and Damien. Let us know how he goes.
Gillian
